    <summary><![CDATA[Crowds gathered on the wooden sidewalks during the summer of 1899 in Roslyn, Washington for the annual lodge parade.  Looking north up Idaho Avenue toward the towering Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the various lodges prepared to march through the streets carrying flags and musical instruments.  The hundreds of people posed for the photographer who was high above the street.]]></summary>

Later Harriet Taylor married David C.Williams, a miner.  The small boy is Harriet&#039;s son Fred Taylor.  Betty Gray (left)  was a member of a Roslyn coal mining family.  This photograph was taken in 1890 by E. E. James, a well-known Roslyn photographer.]]></summary>

    <summary><![CDATA[Samuel T. Packwood and his wife Margaret Holmes Packwood were early pioneer in Kittitas County.  He was the County Sheriff during the strikes of 1888 and 1889.  He was often called to Roslyn to execute the law in order to ease the explosive relationship between striking miners and the newly arrived African-American strike breakers.]]></summary>
