Looking south on Pennsylvania Avenue towards the Northern Pacific Railroad tracks and water tank, several horse drawn buggies and wagons can be seen in this early view of Cle Elum. On the right was the Northwestern Improvement Company's store which supplied the coal miners and their families with most of their food, clothing and other needs. The large, ornate wooden Central Hotel on the left offered visitors and hotel guests with a view of the city from the second story balcony.Postcard titled, "Pennsylvania Ave. Looking South, Cle Elum, Wash. W. Pautzke, Pub., Ellensurg, Wash." Handwritten note on front of card dated Sept. 12. from A. J. D. (Arthur J. Damman.) Note written and addressed to his young daughter Miss Ruth Damman, Ellensburg, Wash. Postmarked from Cle Elum Sept. 12, 1907.
