Description
In 1967 the old Carnegie library building was demolished and to replace it the new Ellensburg Public Library was built. The new building was opened June 30, 1968, with Patricia Dalglish as head librarian. When the library opened it housed 30,000 volumes. The new library was built on the same grounds as the former library at 209 N. Ruby Street. The Hal Holmes Community Center was built in 1983 and was opened in September. It joined the library and formed a walk-way between the two buildings.
