Description
"Our collector will call. Mail or express consignments will receive immediate attention," proprietor C. S. Enright advertised in 1909. Clean clothes were a challenge in a coal mining town; running water in homes, and efficient electric machines, were not available to most residents. Banker Frank Carpenter did own an early copper tub-and-plunger device, now on display at his restored home.Three of the young women are identified as Mary Sitko, Ann McKerman and Mary Long.
