Description
Though not as much of a company town as Roslyn, Cle Elum's business district was dominated by the massive NWI Co. store at First Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The roofline of the long-gone building is still visible on the wall of the surviving building to the left. Compare to winter 1916 photograph of the same scene entitled "Heavy snow outside Company Store, Cle Elum, 1916."
